I’ve been up to a lot lately, but the biggest project I’ve undertaken has been producing a podcast with the Center for Church Communications. The Church Marketing Podcast is a spin off of much of the content I write about here on my blog, but with an emphasis on marketing and communication – specifically for the church.

I have to believe that Facebook knew what it was a s-storm it was starting with its recent “Interested in growing your business using Facebook” ad. In every article posted about doing business on Facebook people are happy with how Facebook has changed the way it delivers content created by pages to fan news feeds. Yet, it didn’t stop Facebook from sending out an ad to businesses promoting how they can help businesses grow.
By virtue of ignoring businesses concerns and blasting business owners with an ad to spend more money on Facebook, the social media giant insulted the intelligence of its entire small business community.

It seems impossible to find an app that, without compromise, allows me to add text to a photo on my iPhone. I previously had mentioned using FrameUrLife as one that has a lot of promise. I still love the app, but wanted to keep looking to see if there was something more suited for me. It bugs me that Instagram and Facebook could possibly use my images without my knowledge so I like to add a watermark to each image before I upload them. It’s a silly rebellion but I find it enjoyable.
I am a huge fan of social media. I often say, if there were something I were to ever write a doctoral paper on, it would probably be on something in the world of social media, marketing, and ministry. I’m not sure how that would work, but I love all three, and they all relate on some level.

The best way to find out if what you’re doing is working along with why or why not is super complicated… actually it’s not. Just ask people who are from your church, community, organization… basically your fans. Ask them face to face what they like about your content and what they dislike. You will get first hand feedback of why what you’re doing is or is not effective.

You can post massive amounts of content on various social networks and receive very little, if any feedback. Truthfully, a lot of times content can be effective even if you don’t see the obvious signs of ROI. Very quickly I will breakdown why this post was effective content.
