The best solutions are often the simplest solutions.
If you were expecting a long, methodical email outlining the multi-step strategy necessary to see a high ranking leader going from zero participation to fully embracing social media… look elsewhere.
A lesson we all know is that you cannot fit a circle into a square… but sometimes, you can talk to the circle, explaining that the square has value and even go so far as to say, “here’s how you can appreciate the square without becoming the square.”
If your senior leader does not find it easy or natural to engage in social media, do not try to change him or her. You won’t be able to and you’ll only cause yourself frustration in the process. However, if they do recognize the value of social media, the following tactic may work.
